look how far we've come
as i am wont to point out pretty much all the time, i have a website! i've had said website since march 15, 2022. like 4 and a half years now. wao! and in that time, a LOT has changed tbh. here is a picture of my website from approximately october of 2022, still year 1 and... well. yeah.

as can be ascertained from the current iteration of my website, i DO still love me some glowy shit, though i Have toned it down quite a bit from this hahaha.
compare that to how my main page looks now, and you can SEE the improvement (though i did go from hand coding the first one to using/editing a theme for the second):
now, all of that being said, while i've come a long way from the initial iteration of my site, i still have a lot of improvements i want to make! i literally have an entire obsidian page listing improvements i plan on (eventually) making to my site.
accessibility is a BIG thing i need to work on, i'm already aware of that. alt text is literally the first thing on my to do list, it's just... a lot (pensive). i gotta go back and add alt text to all my graphix pages (buttons, blinkies, etc) as well as my affiliates, as well as oc pages, prophet gallery... unforchies, the list goes on and on. it's something i definitely should have already added, but... second best time is now, yeah?
another thing i want to work on is updating my site to be theme-switcher friendly, bc i'd LOVE to mess around with alt themes, but i don't wanna get rid of how the site is now. that will ALSO require a lot of finagling. i did figure it out for the default page set up of my website, but i need to, uh, actually implement that on the actual pages instead of just that single test page lol.
images are another thing i need to work on: not ONLY do i need to re-upload anything i have on catbox to filegarden due to the former's instability (tired of half my affiliates not loading lmao), i also need to just, resize and reupload a LOT of images, especially in prophet's gallery and my toybox. i don't NEED the original huge ass sizes uploaded...
the last Big Thing i want to work on is my bookmarks section, because the amount of glowing text there is uhhhhhh a lot. and i want to make it less hard on the eyes, by either changing my links altogether, OR changing the opacity of the bg for bookmarks specifically maybe?? i'll think on it, but it's def something i want to address.
my website means a lot to me, a place i can customize to my heart's content outside of the cultural zeitgeist of social media that is just (profile pic) (header pic if ur lucky). and you know what?
you really, really should. host it on neocities or nekoweb or self host!! never fucked around with html/css/etc before? there are a billion and one guides for that, not to mention pre-made themes you can edit or use as-is! i list a ton of internet references on my website's bookmarks (click 'internet refs'), but this is a good place to start!!
now get out there and make yr own site!! :O
